Covid continued

Firstly I wanted to start off, wishing and hoping all our patients are well and are all staying safe. As many of you would have seen Alverna will be posting regular updates with any new information we may have. Our principal dentist, Simon has been publishing small videos explaining any changes, If you haven’t seen them, then please follow us on Facebook and Instagram!

Since last time I wrote there have been a few changes. The biggest change would be now my gran has moved in with me for the time being.
Not only is she being utterly spoilt (of course) but on doctors advice, she is now safer too.

For any of you who read my previous blog, this means she now has full rein of my TV resulting in never-ending back to back episodes of Fraiser and everybody loves Raymond… oh the joys!
Never the less I wouldn’t have it any other way.
We have been going for short walks with my enthusiastic Labrador to keep us all sane! I would highly recommend board games, we have also baked cakes, done some gardening and completed many puzzles. Needless to say, I have since found out she is highly competitive at snakes and ladders and if you don’t watch her carefully a bit of a cheat too!

I wanted to briefly mention what the Alverna house team has been up too! To begin with we start with Zoom calls every Monday which helps plan the week out and update the whole team to any changes. We are continuing to carry out CPD, for those that aren’t sure what this is, it’s a requirement of our work registration that we carry out training every year. Lockdown has been great to catch up with any online training which has been looming. For me, it gives me more time to create these blogs too!

Please don’t forget Alverna is available to talk to Monday – Friday 9 am to 5 pm. If you fancy a chat and want some company we are here. I smile while writing this section as I recall an amusing conversion I had Last Thursday with a lovely lady who went on to explain to me how she thought she had a heart attack but instead had been stung on her chest! I won’t even go into where on her chest she had been stung, but it wasn’t pleasant! She did go on to say her husband found it very amusing when she leapt out of her dressing gown.
We had a great laugh the whole time chatting on the phone, she even gave me a recommendation for tv programmes!
I personally recommend The crown, if anyone wants a good series to get into. Also the film Contagion, which is spookily very similar reflection of what’s going on in the world at the moment. For anyone that wants a laugh, I have always loved the film mouse Hunt!

I will finish my blog by ending on a quote I read on Friday which said – “This is the time for facts, not fear. This is the time for science, not rumours. This is the time for solidarity, not stigma. We are all in this together, and we can only stop it together” (from Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organisation)

So as always, Stay safe, stay inside and stay healthy everyone!
